Working with Uchida Photography
I have recently had the priviledge of working with Uchida Photography in West Nashville on several projects. His coompany has contracts all over Nashville for school photos and for sports photos not to include any senior photos or other photography clients. Since Tom and I know each other it has been easy to step in with what I know of photography already and help him out as a contractor on his bigger jobs.
Focusing on learning the way Tom runs his company and how he controls large photo shoots has been eye opening. I get to see the difference between his media day shoots and his school photography as well as work alongside great other contractors and employees of his. I’m meeting a ton of people and getting to be a big part of these much larger shoots. It’s not just about camera settings. It’s about organization, consistency, communications, oversight and company vision.
I’ve always wanted to try photographing a subject with smoke and Tom does it all the time. The effect it has on the dramatic sense of the image is great and makes sports photos in particular look amazing. I’ve shot sports in the past and even with Tom on occasion, but shooting posed sports photography is definitely something I like to do and look forward to doing more of it.
Getting the oppotunity to work with Tom has been a great learning experience and has also given me more confidence in my own photography. Here’s to more collaborations with Uchida Photography!
